What Is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy was born in Europe and developed as a therapeutic discipline.
Yoga therapy is a concept that was born from the union of different forms of yoga with the philosophy of inner serenity and the force that lies dormant in us!
Yoga therapy is a discipline that combines the concepts of traditional yoga with elements from sofrology and philosophy. This discipline was created in 1970 by French doctor Bernard Auriol, who had the idea of associating psychoanalysis with certain Eastern approaches such as yoga. After having demonstrated the beneficial effects of its method, little by little yoga therapy became more important until forming large organizations in different countries such as the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
The Benefits of Yoga Therapy for Body and Mind
Yoga therapy is mainly used to treat patients with physical or mental disorders, but it can also be used to prevent these conditions. We cannot treat ourselves exclusively through yoga therapy but, in addition to medical treatment, it allows us to improve our health and feel better. Like yoga, yoga therapy, in its usual practice, provides many benefits both in the anatomy and in the nervous system.
Physical Benefits of Yoga Therapy
Yogatherapy is a discipline accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical and psychological condition.
Some of the health problems that yogatherapy can treat independently from modern medicine are back pain, chronic pain, and problems with the internal organs of the body. If combined with medical treatment, it can help cure sciatica, heart disease, or relieve high blood pressure.
Heal your mind through Yoga Therapy
One of the great advantages of yoga therapy is acting on the mind: it helps to control stress and relieve psychological ailments to live better on a daily basis. Yoga therapy allows to manage several complicated psychological states:
stress management, insomnia, sleep apnea, chronic or occasional migraine, anxiety, panic attack, hyperactivity, depression, and trauma.

How Does it Work?
1. Free 30-minute consultation
The no-cost, pre-therapy, over the phone consultation is offered prior to setting up our first session. It is an opportunity for us to talk about:
-
Your current challenges.
-
Why you are seeking a comprehensive approach.
- My training and background.
-
My approach and how it can address you as a whole, not just a condition.
- Pricing.
2. You fill out an intake form
After we talk, you will receive an email with instructions to fill out a form. What is an intake form? It’s a confidential questionnaire to have a better understanding about you and your challenges. It is similar to what you fill out in a regular therapist/doctor’s first visit.
3. We set up our first session for a full assessment
This first session is usually longer than our regular sessions. After I receive your intake form, I will prepare a full assessment based on your needs. This will include physical, breathing, mental and emotional evaluation. Here I will ask more questions and dig deeper to clarity and unpack more information. It’s a process of inquiry to help us both gain more insights and how yoga therapy can serve better.
4. We both agree on our goals
At the end of the full assessment, we will discuss what your goals as a client are, and what my goals as a therapist are. We come to a clear agreement and set up our working schedule, in person or online!
5. Your personalized yoga sessions begin
Each time we meet, we will work on your breathing patterns, your physical goals and expectations, mental health in general or specific emotional challenges, all gear up to re-discover the resilience and balance within you!
Your Victory comes as you build up a more intimate relationship with your body, your breath, your thoughts, your personality, and your emotions; adapting to what is in front of you.
